Due to publish extortion news, a city correspondent name Riyad Hossain Rubel was attacked in Rajbari, Bangladesh.

On September 4, Bangladeshi newspaper Daily Kalbela published a news titled ‘Gold businessman arrested for extortion’. Due to publish this news, the accused attacked on the journalist on Monday 25 September. They attacked after came on anticipatory bail, according to daily Kalbela report.

Journalist Riyad said to Kalbela news, ‘After attack local people rescued me and took me to the Hospital. After first treatment I filed a written complaint at Baliakandi police station.’

According to Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) report, more than 140 journalists harassed in Bangladesh between January to July 2023. At least 23 journalists got threat from ruling party members or its affiliates and 22 harassed by Law enforcing agencies.
