Bangladesh one of the largest conglomerate East West media group sister concern The Daily Sun newspaper recently fired an eight months pregnant woman journalist. The female journalist was fired from her job just before going on maternity leave, according to Bangladesh women journalists association.

The association deeply concern and strongly protest on this incident. Association’s President Nasima Shoma said in a statement, ‘This incident may cause mental pressure on the journalist which can also effects on her unborn child. We strongly demand that the journalist be immediately reinstated and given maternity leave as per government rules.’

According to Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist information, East west media group unfairly fired at least 50 journalists in a few days. The organization demanded the reinstatement of the sacked journalists.
